2023 Honda CR-V Comparison Highlights
The Honda CR-V, America's best-selling SUV of the past 25 years, is all-new for the 2023 model year, and boasts a new hybrid-electric powertrain alongside numerous quality-of-life improvements.
Four trim levels are available for the 2023 CR-V, including the new Sport and Sport Touring models, which are both powered by a more advanced two-motor hybrid system. This new-generation hybrid powertrain delivers 247 lb-ft of torque, making these two trims the most powerful CR-Vs that Honda has ever produced.
Honda expects half of all CR-V sales will be of the hybrid versions, which is why they've poured a lot of effort into the all-new 4th-generation hybrid-electric platform. A pair of electric motors mounted side-by-side work in conjunction with an enhanced 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine to deliver a more sophisticated highway driving experience, along with up to 1,000 pounds of towing capacity - a first for the hybrid powertrain. These changes also mean that the 2023 CR-V has a new top speed of 115 mph, which is a big improvement over the previous limit of 86 mph.
On the gasoline versions, an updated 1.5-liter turbocharged engine offers better emissions along with 190 horsepower. It's able to achieve this new efficiency and response due to an upgraded turbocharger and a 4-into-2 exhaust port cylinder head which allows for sustained peak power over a larger range of rpm.
Thanks to chassis revisions that resulted in a significantly stronger platform, the CR-V also features upgraded driving dynamics, and the emphasis is on sportiness. Notably, both the wheelbase and width have been increased, improving stability, handling, and overall ride quality.
Even better, every 2023 CR-V model can be upgraded with Honda's re-tuned Real Time All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Control, which improves grip in low traction conditions by sending up to 50 percent of torque to the rear wheels. And for the first time ever, Hill Descent Control is now standard on all models, giving you even more off-road confidence alongside a new Snow mode.
This versatility and capability is also present throughout the interior of the 2023 CR-V, as the new and modern passenger area boasts many "firsts" like Body Stabilizing Seats, eight angles of recline for the rear seats, and with a whopping nine liters of space, the largest center console bin in its class.
On the safety front, the standard Honda Sensing system adds a new wide-view camera and radar, as well as new Traffic Jam Assist, Low-Speed Braking Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition. These advanced driver assistance features, along with the new Driver Attention Monitor, rear seatbelt reminder, and rear seat reminder, help you become more aware and mindful of important details that affect everyone's safety, both inside and outside of the vehicle.
